Innovation

Boost4Bio aims to promote further the capacity of BSRC Fleming to commercially exploit its research output and promote technology transfer and high-tech entrepreneurship to contribute to Greece’s Research & Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization (RIS3) priorities through:

  • refining the internal procedures and expanding the activities of BSRC Fleming in technology transfer
  • arranging short-term visits of BSRC Fleming personnel to the premises of more advanced institutions in technology transfer to facilitate the adoption of good practices;
  • identifying research activities with high translational potential and promoting the next steps for their commercialization
  • increasing the number of patent applications being filed
  • increasing the number of BSRC Fleming spin-offs being founded.

Research

To further promote the integration of basic and applied Biomedical research at BSRC Fleming and to catalyze the synergistic relationship of the ERA Chair with the research priorities of the Center, in the framework of Boost4Bio, we will carry out three exploratory research projects with high innovation and translational potential. All these projects are a result of a synergistic combination of expertise of the ERA Chair in biomolecular engineering and synthetic biology with that of BSRC Fleming investigators in the mechanisms underlying the targeted diseases and the use of relevant cellular and animal models for the validation of discovered molecules and their subsequent pre-clinical development.

Seminars & Workshops

Biotechnopolis

BSRC Fleming is pursuing its vision to transform excellent biomedical research to innovation in drug discovery & development further through the establishment of the first integrated Biotechnology hub in Greece and the wider region. This new national research & innovation infrastructure, termed “Biotechnopolis” (the “City of Biotechnology”), will foster the development of innovative biomedical, biotechnological and pharmaceutical products and technologies through the creation of a fertile environment offering access to excellent research, high-end infrastructures, and a culture of entrepreneurship in close proximity with academia.

Training and Career Development of Young Scientists

One of the main goals of Boost4Bio is to provide greatly improved scientific training and career development opportunities for young scientists in Greece and in Europe. It aims at promoting continuous training and transfer of knowledge from senior to young researchers and vice versa via organization trainings, workshops, summer schools, expert visits, short-term scientific missions and staff exchanges.
